Amarillo is a city in the U.S. state of Texas and the county seat of Potter County. A portion of the city extends into Randall County. As of the 2000 U.S. Census, the city had a total population of 173,627 (though a July 1, 2005 estimate placed the city's population at 183,021). The Amarillo metropolitan area, however, has an estimated population of 236,113 in four counties.
The city once self-proclaimed as the "Helium Capital of the World" for having one of the country's most productive helium fields. The city is also known as "The Yellow Rose of Texas" and most recently "Rotor City, USA" for its V-22 Osprey hybrid aircraft assembly plant.[1] Amarillo operates one of the largest meat packing areas in the United States. Pantex, the only nuclear weapons assembly and disassembly facility in the country, is also a major employer. The attractions, Cadillac Ranch and Big Texan Steak Ranch, were located on old U.S. Route 66, which passes through the city.

The San Antonio Convention & Visitors Bureau (SACVB) received approval to award their multi-million dollar advertising, marketing and public relations contract to Proof Advertising.
San Antonio’s architecturally stunning Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center is unveiling $40 million in renovations. Known for its location on the banks of the River Walk, the convention center is located in the heart of downtown; close to thousands of hotel rooms, shops, restaurants and historic sites. Now, with new event spaces and energy efficient additions, the convention center is more inspiring than ever.
PrideFest San Antonio (a festival promoting cohesiveness among lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender [LGBT] individuals and the supportive San Antonio community) will be held on July 11, 2011 at HemisFair Park, in historic downtown.

City Manager Sheryl Sculley has appointed Casandra Matej as the Director of the San Antonio Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Matej comes to the City with more than 15 years of experience in the Convention and Visitors Bureau, Hotel, and Leisure industries. Prior to her appointment, she served as the Senior Vice President of Sales and Services for the Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau for the past three years. During her tenure, she was instrumental in implementing the restructuring of sales and resource allocations for the Dallas CVB, which resulted in a 40 percent growth of convention room night sales.
Matej holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Speech Communications with a concentration in Organizational Communications from the University of Texas at Austin.
“Cassandra Matej is an outstanding addition to our City of San Antonio team,” said City Manager Sheryl Sculley. “The programs and services that the Convention & Visitors Bureau provides are vital to the San Antonio economy. I am confident that her wealth of experience and leadership skills will help San Antonio excel in hospitality.”
